Sunday Surf with Authentic Parenting and Hobo Mama

This week I am focusing on 'Mindful Parenting and Repair'. Yesterday I lost my patience with my youngest son. It was morning, I waited too late to ask them to get dressed, and we were running late getting them to where they needed to go. My youngest decided this would be the best time to run around in his underwear and skeleton mask, refusing to put on his clothes. Instead of taking a breath, calming myself, and proceeding to help him focus and get ready, I had a tantrum that equaled or surpassed any that he could have had. I yelled, I woke up my husband telling him, "I am done! You get him ready if you want to!" and I stormed out of the house with my oldest son to bring him to his class. All day I beat myself up for my behavior. What was I thinking?!? Why would I do that?!? I know better!! All of the things that I try not to tell my kids when they make a mistake. With some soothing self talk, purposeful connection with the boys, and increased self-care, I am starting to feel more patient towards myself and have started today with resolve. It was the articles and links below that helped me refocus.
